If you ever ask a Latino what the most iconic board game within latino culture is they will most likely say “Loteria !”. Loteria is the board game that has spanned generations and has been the source of many light hearted family arguments. Like many latinos, Loteria holds a special place in my heart as many of my favorite family memories and sense of nostalgia stems from this simple bingo board game. My culture is one of the most important aspects of my life that has allowed me to share a special connection to many people and helped me feel a sense of belonging to a specific community. This project is a tribute to the culture and also a way to shed light on the many struggles that latinos have to face in their lifetime. It is a combination of lighthearted themes and dark themes that many Latinos often choose not to talk about or admit are a problem. This collection of prints is a brief dive of what the culture entails.
